Yemen faces two deadly attacks in one day

At least 51 people died Thursday in separate attacks in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden. In the first attack, a car, a bus, and three motorcycles exploded during a morning lineup at a police station. According to a senior police official, at least 11 people died and 29 others sustained injuries. In another area of town, Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile strike targeting a military parade at the al-Galaa camp, which left at least 40 people dead.

What’s the situation in Yemen? The country’s civil war began in 2015 between the Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels and the Saudi-backed government. The unrest has left about 22 million people in need of aid in a country of 29 million, sparking one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
