Vice President Kamala Harris to visit COP28 climate summit

Vice President Harris is scheduled to travel to Dubai on Friday to attend the annual climate change summit over the weekend. Dozens of other senior officials will represent more than 20 U.S. departments and agencies. President Joe Biden is facing some criticism for not going himself. Addressing climate change was a key part of Biden’s 2020 campaign, and the president has attended the past two summits.

What will the vice president do at the summit? Harris will emphasize the Biden administration’s climate agenda at home and abroad, according to a press release. In recent months, the vice president has been on a cross-country college tour in an attempt to galvanize Gen Z and millennial voters to support Biden’s re-election bid. She’s made climate change a key point during her tours.
