Vandals firebomb New York pregnancy center
The underground pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge appeared to claim responsibility for vandalizing CompassCare, a pro-life Christian pregnancy center in Amherst, N.Y., and throwing firebombs into the building Tuesday. The CompassCare CEO said the fire was reported around 3 a.m. and had left the building temporarily unusable. Graffiti spray-painted on the building read “Jane was here.” Pregnancy center services will resume Wednesday at an undisclosed location.
Have there been other attacks? Jane’s Revenge’s call sign, “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either,” was found spray-painted in front of a vandalized pro-life pregnancy counseling center in Asheville, N.C., on Monday. Last month, another pro-life organization’s headquarters in Madison, Wis., was firebombed, reportedly by the same group. Supreme Court justices have also faced threats following last month’s leak of a draft opinion that could overturn Roe v. Wade. On Wednesday, police arrested California man Nicholas Roske, 26, near Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home. Police said Roske was armed with a gun and knife and made threats against the justice. Initial reports said the suspect was angry about the leaked draft and wanted to assassinate Kavanaugh. A Department of Homeland Security bulletin released Tuesday said the agency expects the pending Supreme Court decision to contribute to the current “heightened threat environment.”
