Uvalde shooter showed warning signs to some

“School shooter” was the nickname kids at school gave the 18-year-old Uvalde shooter before he killed 21 people. A new 77-page report Sunday from the Texas House Investigative Committee cataloged the warning signs the shooter showed—everything from texts and posts saying that he was going to shoot up a school to interviewing his cousin, who attended Robb Elementary, about his schedule.

What’s in the report? The report traces the transformation of the shooter, whose teacher once said was a “wonderful student” with a “positive attitude,” into a mass murderer. While “private individuals” saw some concerning clues about his behavior, authorities were not alerted before the shooting, according to the report. He was bullied in one of the fourth-grade classrooms in which he would later kill students. A former girlfriend of the shooter later told the FBI she thought he once had been sexually assaulted. The report also shows that he amassed $5,000 worth of weapons and ammunition to supply his assault on the school.
