Ukrainian president rejects idea of cease-fire with Russia

Speaking from Estonia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday said Russia was at a “deficit,” while many world powers have been supporting Ukraine’s efforts on the battlefield. He said a cease-fire—which could last years—would give Russia time to bolster its military and replenish war supplies.

Why is Zelenskyy in Estonia? He has been on a two-day tour visiting the Baltic states of Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia. He said the purpose of the trip was to address security concerns and Ukraine’s desire to join the three countries in NATO and the European Union. In Lithuania yesterday, Zelenskyy said that his troops can beat Russia’s forces but need more military supplies from the West.
