Ukrainian grain arrives in Turkey; plant shelled

A ship carrying Ukrainian grain, one of several to leave the Black Sea ports, arrived at its destination in Turkey on Monday. Twelve ships—ten outbound and two heading to Ukraine—have been authorized to pass through the Black Sea under the agreement, which was mediated by Turkey and the United Nations. About 322,000 tons of corn and other crops have left Ukrainian ports. Ships leaving Ukraine are checked by officials from Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey. Four of the ships that have left Ukraine already are due to dock in Istanbul on Monday evening for those inspections.

What’s this about a nuclear plant? Russia and Ukraine are accusing each other of shelling the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station on Sunday. Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, recently said that the fighting around the station posed a threat to the environment and the health of those nearby.
