Ukraine hits Russian tank-landing craft

Ukrainian forces hit a Russian warship with aircraft-guided missiles on the Crimean Sea on Tuesday. The Novocherkassk was moored at the Crimean port of Feodosia on the Black Sea. Ukrainian Air Force Spokesman Yurii Ihnat said the ship was heavily damaged and that it was possible that surrounding ships and the port’s infrastructure also sustained damage. Russia confirmed the attack and said one person died.

When was the last time Ukraine hit a Russian ship? Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea, which the U.S. does not recognize, hurt Ukraine’s navy. Before the annexation, Ukraine’s navy was headquartered in Crimea. Ukraine currently has no warships and has been carrying out its attacks on Russian ships chiefly with drones. Another notable ship-sinking occurred when the Ukrainians destroyed a Russian flagship in April 2022.
