Ukraine military aid package could be last without new funding, Pentagon says

The U.S. Department of Defense on Wednesday announced an assistance package valued at $250 million. The package includes air defense capabilities, artillery, and antitank weapons. It is the 54th drawdown of military equipment for Ukraine from U.S. inventory since August 2021. There is no more funding to replace the weapons and the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative has run out of money, said Pentagon spokesman Marine Lt. Col. Garron Garn.

What is the status of more aid to Ukraine? The Biden administration has asked Congress to approve another supplemental security package worth more than $60 billion in aid for Ukraine. Congress has debated international and domestic security spending, with Republicans in the House holding out for reforms to border security and immigration. Lawmakers are set to resume negotiations next month as the war in Ukraine approaches its second anniversary.
