U.S. student killed in Rome

Rome police have arrested a homeless man in the death of a 19-year-old American man who was studying abroad in Rome. Police believe Beau Solomon of Spring Green, Wis., died just hours after arriving in Italy to participate in a summer program at John Cabot University. He went to a pub in the Trastevere neighborhood and was robbed as he left, friends said. A witness said Solomon then went under a nearby bridge and got into a fight with Massimo Galioto, 40. Police pulled Solomon’s body from Tiber River on Monday. Relatives said Solomon had just completed his first year as a personal-finance major at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. They described him as an athlete who survived childhood cancer.
