Two dead, more injured after Texas tornadoes
Officials in northern Texas reported on Sunday that a tornado killed two people and displaced over a dozen families. Wise County Judge J.D. Clark released a Sunday statement confirming that one person died during the Saturday night storm. Emergency responders treated about six other people for injuries at the time, and at least 20 families are displaced, he added. A second person died from the storm in Springtown, Texas, according to a statement from Parker County Emergency Services.
How bad were the storms? The National Weather Service identified the first twister as an EF-2 tornado with winds up to 135 mph, according to a Sunday statement. The storm brought hail, which Runaway Bay Mayor Herman White described as the largest he’d seen for the area since the 1980s. Over 60 power lines were down and scattered all over, he added. Weather officials confirmed a second twister in the Springtown area with winds of up to 105 mph, according to a separate Sunday statement.
