Trump’s remarks about Russia raise more criticism

In speeches at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night, President Barack Obama and vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., focused on tearing down Donald Trump’s qualifications for the presidency. The critiques came after Trump earlier in the day mockingly called on Russia to investigate Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. Russia is suspected of having hacked into the Democratic National Committee’s email system, and Trump suggested Russia could also try to find 30,000 emails missing from the time Clinton was secretary of state. Hours later, Trump told Fox News he was being sarcastic. In his speech that evening, Obama called Trump a “homegrown demagogue” and said he was a threat to the country.
