Trump visits shooting victims, first responders in Florida

President Donald Trump traveled to Florida on Friday to meet with survivors and victims of Wednesday’s school shooting in Parkland, and to thank the first responders who helped them. The president and first lady Melania Trump visited Broward Health North Hospital in Pompano Beach, thanking doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals. The couple met several victims, after which the president said it’s “very sad that something like that could happen.” After leaving the hospital, the president and first lady traveled to Fort Lauderdale to meet law enforcement officials who responded to reports of an active shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. “I was at the hospital with a lot of parents and they are really thankful for the job you’ve done,” Trump told deputies at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, where Gov. Rick Scott, Sen. Marco Rubio and other Florida officials joined him. Trump described the young victims as in “really great shape” considering all they’ve suffered.
