Tropical Storm Harold makes landfall in Texas

The storm on Tuesday brought heavy rain and sustained winds of 50 mph to South Texas and northern Mexico. Some areas were projected to receive up to 7 inches of rain. Texas this year had one of its hottest and driest summers on record. The rain was forecast to continue west across the southern part of the state until Wednesday.

Are there any other storms brewing in the Atlantic? Tropical Storm Franklin on Tuesday threatened the southern coasts of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The weather system was forecast to bring heavy rain and potentially deadly flooding through Wednesday. The National Hurricane Center is tracking at least two other weather systems in the Atlantic.
