Tornadoes, blizzard-like storms tear across the United States

At least three people are dead and many injuries have been reported as tornadoes on Tuesday struck Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma, officials said. At least five tornadoes are confirmed, the National Weather Service said, but as many as 12 may have formed in the storm system. A mother and her son died in the Keithville area of Louisiana, Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator said. Officials found the mother’s body one street away from her home, but the boy’s body was half a mile away. The father reported them missing from their home, the sheriff said. Emergency responders couldn’t even find the house when they arrived. “Everything was gone,” the sheriff said. Police have not identified a third victim found in Keithville.

Where is the storm going? Blizzard warnings stretched from Montana to Western Nebraska and Colorado, the National Weather Service said. As much as two feet of snow is possible in areas of South Dakota and western Nebraska, and in some areas, winds of more than 50 mph could make it difficult to see outdoors, officials said. Blizzard warnings have been issued for parts of the Midwest and the storm is expected to hit western Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday.
