Tornado kills three people in Texas panhandle

A tornado on Thursday evening ripped through Perryton, Texas, as a severe storm moved across the southeastern United States. The tornado killed three people and injured more than 50 others in the small town of about 8,000 residents. The storm also damaged or destroyed at least 30 mobile homes and several businesses, Perryton Fire Chief Paul Dutcher said.

Did the storm cause damage in other states? One person in Florida’s Escambia County died after a tree fell on their home, officials said Friday. Nearly 150 residents of a Pensacola-area apartment complex were evacuated Friday morning because of rising flood water. Over 600,000 people had lost power across the Gulf states as of Friday morning.
