Time names Trump Person of the Year
Time magazine has named President-elect Donald Trump its Person of the Year. Editor Nancy Gibbs called the choice straightforward. “When have we ever seen a single individual who has so defied expectations, broken the rules, violated norms, beaten not one but two political parties on the way to winning an election that he entered with 100-to-1 odds against him?” Gibbs said this morning on NBC’s Today show. Trump called the recognition a “great honor,” but he took issue with the cover story’s headline: “Donald Trump: President of the Divided States of America.” He insisted he isn’t divisive and pledged to put the country “back together.” Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost her White House bid to Trump, was the No. 2 choice for the magazine’s recognition. A group referred to by Time as “The Hackers,” a symbol of growing state-sponsored cyber security threats, came in third.
