Tim Tebow homers on first pitch during first at bat
Tim Tebow started his professional baseball career off with a bang Wednesday, hitting the first pitch in his first at bat in his first game for a solo home run. Tebow, playing in an instructional league game in Port St. Lucie, Fla., for the New York Mets, hit a 91 mph fastball pitched by St. Louis Cardinals left-hander John Kilichowski, an 11th round draft pick out of Vanderbilt. Once the 29-year-old former pro and college quarterback rounded the bases, his mostly teenage teammates warmly greeted him at home plate. ESPN reports that Tebow treated his fellow Mets instructional leaguers to dinner Monday night and a movie Tuesday.
