Three killed, 23 wounded in Eastern Ukraine
Cluster bombs struck a medical facility, bus stop, and residential buildings among other things on Thursday in Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, the National Police in Kharkiv said. The city’s mayor said the bombs struck one of the most crowded areas of the city leaving burned-out cars and buses pierced with shrapnel. Russia also shelled nearby wheat fields which caught fire, the region’s governor said. Wednesday, Russia said it was expanding its territorial aims in Ukraine beyond the eastern Donbas region.
What’s happening to refugees? Both Russia and Ukraine said there are nearly 2 million war refugees in Russia. But Ukraine described these trips as a forced transfer to enemy soil, which is a war crime, while Russia said these are humanitarian evacuations. It is unclear what’s happening to those refugees in Russia.
