Authorities arrested the young man behind the “Thank You, Jesus” sign ministry on Tuesday on a charge of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s office in North Carolina. A local internet crime task force identified Lucas Timothy Hunt as a suspect after investigating a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in January, according to the arrest posting. A judge set the 25-year-old’s bond at $75,000.
What has the ministry said? WORLD reached out to the Thank You Jesus Mission for a comment and did not receive a reply within 24 hours. WORLD also reached out to the nonprofit’s president, Constance Wilson Frazier, and also did not receive a reply within 24 hours.
The mission did not release a formal statement on its website, but internet archives show that Hunt’s name previously appeared on the site in several places, but has since been removed. Frazier told FOX8 that the ministry is about people who love Jesus rather than just one person. The ministry could not comment on the criminal charges, but noted that Hunt had blessed thousands through the signs, she added.
