Texas winter weather kills two, causes delays
Crashes on icy roads killed two people Tuesday as winter weather swept across Texas. Officials in one county said deputies responded to crashes every three minutes in the morning. So far, the state has seen about 370 accidents. Meteorologists said there will be freezing rain and ice accumulation up to a quarter of an inch as far south as Dallas and up to Memphis.
What’s happening in other states? The storm is sweeping over other parts of the South and central United States. Many schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas were closed Tuesday, and those states closed several roads. So far, more than 1,600 flights across the country have been canceled due to weather—nearly half of those are in Texas.
