Texas 26-year-old arrested for alleged terror threat against Erika Kirk
South Texas officials accused a 26-year-old man of making terroristic threats through an online comment threatening violence against a Turning Point USA event and the organization’s CEO, Erika Kirk. Jacob Wenske faced charges of a third-degree felony count of terroristic threat involving public fear of serious bodily injury or public disruption, county records showed.
A San Antonio area news outlet posted on Facebook about TPUSA’s Women’s Leadership Summit, slated for early June at the city’s Marriott Rivercenter. TPUSA expected over 2,500 people to attend the three-day summit, which would include over two dozen notable speakers, including Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, pro-life activist Allie Beth Stuckey, and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines.
Wenske allegedly commented, “I know exactly where to bomb” under the post, according to reporting by The San Antonio Express-News. The 26-year-old allegedly also wrote, “I can’t wait to be the valet for her escort” to the post, referring to Kirk. Investigators used Wenske’s email address, phone number, and IP address to identify him and charged him with making mass threats of violence. Local police were informed of Wenske’s warrant, and arrested the suspect without incident on Wednesday, a San Antonio police spokeswoman told WORLD on Thursday. Records showed the suspect remained in custody on a $60,000 bond.
How has Turning Point responded to the arrest? The conservative activist group released a Thursday statement thanking San Antonio police and the FBI for quickly responding to the alleged threats. TPUSA takes all threats seriously, and the safety of event attendees, speakers, and staff is the highest priority, according to the statement. Events include multi-layered security measures enforced by both private security and local police, because TPUSA will not be silenced by threats, the group added.
