Terror group executes Canadian hostage in Philippines
Islamist militants in the Philippines have beheaded a Canadian man held hostage since September. Abu Sayyaf, which is affiliated with Islamic State, had demanded a ransom payment in exchange for Robert Hall’s release. The group executed another Canadian, John Ridsdel, in April after his random deadline passed. The militants abducted Ridsdel, Hall, and his Filipina partner, Marites Flor, from a resort they were visiting on their yacht. They also took Norwegian national Kjartan Sekkingstad, who managed the Oceanview Resort on Samal Island. Newly elected Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte, who has not been inaugurated yet, pledged justice for the victims.
