Taliban disavows suicide attack in Kabul

The Taliban denied responsibility for Tuesday’s suicide bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan, that targeted Islamic scholars and clerics. The attack struck a wedding hall where hundreds gathered to mark the birthday of Muhammad, the founder of Islam. Public Health Ministry spokesman Wahid Majroh said Wednesday the death toll from the attack had risen to 55 people with at least 94 others sustaining injuries. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the group condemned any attack on civilians or religious clerics. Islamic State (ISIS) also remains active in the country.
