SUV driver kills seven outside migrant shelter
A driver on Sunday plowed through a crowd of people sitting on the curb at a bus stop outside a migrant shelter in the border city of Brownsville, Texas. The SUV ran a red light roughly 100 feet away before the incident, according to Victor Maldonado, director of the Bishop Enrique San Pedro Ozanam Center. He added that the car flipped after running up onto the curb, but it kept moving for about 200 more feet.
Who was the driver? Police did not immediately reveal the individual’s identity but said he was taken to a hospital for treatment for injuries he likely sustained from the crash. Brownsville police investigator Martin Sandoval said the driver was being uncooperative at the hospital and was being tested for intoxication. He faces charges of reckless driving.
