Suspect charged in Australian Christian Lobby bombing
The Australian native who in December blew up a car full of gas cylinders outside the Australian Christian Lobby’s headquarters will appear in court next month. Australia’s Federal Police said the 36-year-old man would face one count of arson and one count of property damage. The December explosion happened when the man ignited gas cylinders inside a van, destroying the vehicle and parts of the building in the process. State officials at the time said the attack had no political or religious motivation and described it as an attempted suicide. The group’s managing director, Lyle Shelton, told Australia’s 2CC radio station he was glad to hear an update on the case. “It’s been six months since our office was bombed,” Shelton said.
