Sudan cease-fire extended, U.S. evacuates citizens

Sudan’s two rival military groups on Sunday extended a humanitarian cease-fire for 72 hours, even as each side accused the other of violating the truce. Violence has continued in some areas of the country despite the cease-fire.

What is happening with U.S. citizens in Sudan? An unmanned American aircraft watched over a bus convoy that transported U.S. citizens 500 miles to Port Sudan. The convoy arrived on Saturday and was followed by a second convoy on Sunday, according to the State Department. U.S. soldiers on Sunday checked travel documents and conducted security checks on those American citizens before putting them on a U.S. Navy vessel bound for Saudi Arabia.
