Storms keep battering Northern Europe

Storm Franklin on Sunday became the third major storm to hit the northern region of Europe in less than a week. A couple in their 70s in France died when floodwaters swept their car into the English Channel, bringing the death toll from the trio of storms to at least 14.

Which countries were in the path of the storm? More than 300 flood warnings and alerts spanned England as the storm brought heavy rain and strong wind to the country and to Northern Ireland on Monday. Franklin struck France and disrupted travel in Germany. German weather officials began lifting weather warnings on Monday. Franklin, combined with storms Eunice and Dudley, knocked power out for thousands of people, flooded many areas, damaged buildings, and prompted evacuations.
