States push out more COVID-19 vaccines
One long-term healthcare facility, PruittHealth, picked a creative way to encourage employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19: Partner with Waffle House to buy them breakfast if they get the shot. “If that doesn’t get you in line, I don’t know what will,” Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said. Drugmaker Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine became the fifth to reach final stage testing in the United States as Pfizer and Moderna continued shipping their shots nationwide.
How is distribution going in other states? Most U.S. states are still working to ramp up access to the vaccine for healthcare workers and nursing home residents. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday announced the start of an effort to vaccinate all long-term care residents in his state. Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly is in line to get a coronavirus shot as part of a plan to start vaccinating state officials to keep things running during the pandemic.
