SpaceX launches rocket and roadster
SpaceX on Tuesday successfully launched the most powerful rocket in use today. The private rocket company headed by Elon Musk blasted off the Falcon Heavy rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida Tuesday afternoon, and then successfully landed two of its three boosters within minutes of liftoff. “That was epic,” Musk said following the launch. “It was probably the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen—literally ever.” The rocket is carrying Musk’s red Tesla Roadster, “driven” by a space-suited mannequin nicknamed “Starman.” As of Wednesday morning, Musk said the car is cruising toward the asteroid belt, well beyond Mars.
