South Korean lawmaker says North Korea shipping artillery shells to Russia

North Korea has sent over a million artillery shells to Russia since August, according to South Korean intelligence shared by lawmaker Yoo Sang-bum. North Korea and Russia have denied claims by the United States and South Korea that North Korea is shipping Russia arms. The shells would amount to roughly two months’ worth of supplies for Russia, Yoo said. Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-Un met in September.

How have other countries responded? The United States, South Korea, and Japan issued a joint statement on Oct. 26 that condemned North Korea’s shipments to Russia. The White House also previously released photos that it said showed North Korean containers of military equipment being loaded onto a Russian-flagged ship.
