Some Republicans begging GOP to abandon Trump

More than 70 Republican leaders are asking Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Reince Priebus to cut off funds for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. A letter circulating through the GOP ranks states Trump threatens the future of the party, which should redirect funds to Senate and House races. “Every dollar spent by the RNC on Donald Trump’s campaign is a dollar of donor money wasted on the losing effort of a candidate who has actively undermined the GOP at every turn,” the letter states. Meanwhile, Trump worked this morning to revise his assertions that President Barack Obama founded Islamic State (ISIS). Despite giving a detailed explanation Thursday to radio host Hugh Hewitt for why he blamed Obama for the terror group’s existence, Trump insisted this morning that the media misinterpreted his comments, tweeting, “THEY DON’T GET SARCASM?”
