Six adults wounded in Oakland school shooting

At least some of the victims from the shooting early Wednesday afternoon were found inside the California school, authorities said. Four of the victims were taken to the hospital, two of them with life-threatening injuries. Rudsdale Newcomer High School serves recent immigrants ages 16-21 who have fled violence and instability in their home countries. Three other schools are located on the same block. Police are seeking at least one suspect for the shooting while saying that there could have been more shooters. Police have not taken anyone into custody.

What are the police saying about the shooting? Police have said the victims are affiliated with Rudsdale. City Council Member Treva Reid said investigators told her the shooting may be tied to “group or gang violence.” School officials say they don’t have any information beyond what police are reporting, but that counselors are being made available to students.
