Shooting probe leads to other cities, music festivals

Agents investigating the Las Vegas shooting said gunman Stephen Paddock researched music festivals across the country and even booked hotel rooms in high-rises overlooking some venues. Paddock rented rooms near the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago in August and the Life Is Beautiful festival near the Vegas Strip in September. Boston police officials said Fenway Park came up in the investigation, but they didn’t elaborate. Authorities there are increasing security before the Boston Red Sox play at home in the American League Division Series beginning Sunday. On Thursday night, thousands attended a memorial for one of the shooting victims, Las Vegas Police Officer Charleston Hartfield. The service for Hartfield, a 16-year Army veteran who served in Iraq, was among the first for those killed in the shooting.
