Samsung pulls plug on combustible phone
Samsung announced today it has stopped production of its troubled Galaxy Note 7 after a recall failed to fix the mobile phone’s igniting battery problem. The South Korean tech giant initially recalled the phone when owners started to report the devices catching fire. The company blamed the problem on a faulty battery from one manufacturer and offered replacement phones with batteries from a different manufacturer. When those devices also caught fire, Samsung pulled the plug on the model. Customers can return their phones for a different Samsung device and a credit. Although the troubled phones will no longer be on the market, regulators in the United States and South Korea are still trying to figure out what caused the problem.
