Russian military planes intercepted near Polish airspace
The three Russian planes on Monday reportedly came from a military air base in Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave located between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic coast. They were intercepted Monday by two Dutch fighters. The Netherlands’ defense ministry said Monday night the Russian aircraft consisted of one reconnaissance plane and two fighter jets. Eight Dutch jets are stationed in Poland as a part of NATO Enhanced Air Policing.
Will Ukraine get any more military support? NATO defense leaders on Tuesday met in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss increased military support for Ukraine. Kyiv is expected to receive tanks from multiple Western countries in the coming weeks, but NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says the country also needs more ammunition and fuel. Ukrainian officials have continued to press world leaders for fighter jets as Moscow ramps up its invasion.
