Russia launches missile attack on ISIS

Russia fired four cruise missiles at Islamic State (ISIS) positions in Syria today in support of Syrian troops fighting the terror group. A frigate and a submarine in the Mediterranean Sea launched the missiles toward the area surrounding Palmyra, where the Syrian government is fighting to cut off ISIS from the border with Iraq. In recent weeks, the military has reclaimed a swath of territory from ISIS and U.S.-backed rebels. Russia, a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad, has been providing air cover for the fight against ISIS and other insurgents since 2015.
