Russia launches largest aerial assault on Ukraine since invasion
The Ukrainian military on Friday said that Moscow’s attack killed at least two dozen civilians and injured more than 140. Russia hit the capital of Kyiv, a maternity hospital in the central city of Dnipro, the eastern city of Kharkiv, and several other cities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his forces intercepted most of the missiles, rockets, and drones overnight. Russia had launched more than 120 missiles and dozens of one-way drones in what a Ukrainian Air Force official said was the biggest aerial barrage of the war.
What else is happening in the war in Ukraine? Moscow’s attack came days after Ukrainian forces on Tuesday struck a Russian navy landing ship in Crimea. Ukraine has called on Western allies to provide more air defenses as the war nears its second anniversary.
