Russia advancing in Eastern Ukraine

In the city of Severodonetsk, the last major Ukrainian holdout in the Luhansk region, hundreds of troops, civilians, and about 40 children are sheltering in the Azot chemical plant. A U.S. defense official said Russia could control the city within days. Between 100 and 200 soldiers a day are killed in action in Ukraine. Russia now holds 95 percent of Luhansk and about half of Donetsk, the two provinces that make up the Donbas region, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said Monday.

Will Russia stop with Donbas? Ukrainian and Western officials said the region could be a tipping point in the war because of its weapons manufacturing capabilities for Ukraine. The intense fighting has weakened Russian forces, which might not have the ability to advance beyond the Donbas region.
