Rosalynn Carter memorial ceremonies begin
Rosalynn Carter’s family began a three-day memorial process on Monday for the former first lady and humanitarian. Her body traveled by motorcade from her hometown of Plains, Ga., to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, where her body will lie in repose. Along the way, people came out to see the motorcade. A wreath-laying ceremony was held Monday at the Rosalynn Carter Health and Human Sciences Complex at Georgia Southwestern State University. An event for the public to pay their respects was scheduled for Monday evening.
What else is planned? A private tribute service is scheduled for Tuesday at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. Guests expected to attend include President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other former first ladies. A private funeral service is set for Wednesday at Mrs. Carter’s home church, Maranatha Baptist Church, which will mark the end of the memorial ceremonies. A detailed itinerary is available online.
