Report says migrants gunned down on Saudi Arabia border

Human Rights Watch reported Monday that hundreds, possibly even thousands, of Ethiopian migrants died between March 2022 and June 2023 at the hands of Saudi border guards. The 73-page report says Saudi guards used explosives and machine guns to kill the migrants, and that killings were likely still ongoing.

How does Human Rights Watch know this is happening? The report cited eyewitness accounts and photographs of mass graves and detention centers. Many migrants from Ethiopia have economic motivations for trying to enter Saudi Arabia, and others are fleeing human rights violations in their home country.
