Remembering the day the towers fell
Events are planned across the country today to mark the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. The coordinated attacks killed nearly 3,000 Americans, shocking the nation and inciting a war. The 9/11 Memorial in New York City opens to the public for a viewing of the annual Tribute in Light — two light beams that soar four miles into the sky near the original site of the Twin Towers. In Washington, D.C., the Pentagon Memorial is hosting services for families of those who died in the attack. Other cities are organizing memorials, fundraisers, and stair climbs to remember fallen firefighters.
