Rains from Nicole douse eastern U.S.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole raked the East Coast of the United States on Friday. Meanwhile, many in Florida wondered when they could return to their homes. The storm peeled oceanfront houses off the shore in many areas that Hurricane Ian already hit earlier this year.

What does the storm look like now? Forecasters have issued tornado warnings for affected states, but no tornado touchdowns were reported immediately. The storm has been downgraded to a tropical depression. The National Hurricane Center said the storm could dump as much as 8 inches of rain over the Blue Ridge Mountains and could cause flooding as far north as New England.
