Queen Elizabeth II celebrates official 90th birthday
Britain marks Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday this weekend with nationwide celebrations. The festivities opened today with a prayer service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and will continue with the traditional Trooping the Color parade Saturday and a street fair Sunday. Other fairs are planned around the country, too. The palace released a new official portrait of the queen and her husband, Prince Philip, taken by American photographer Annie Leibovitz. The queen’s actual birthday is in April, but the country officially celebrates it in June.
