Pro-lifers to flood Capitol Hill for annual March for Life
The 51st National March for Life will kick off at 11 a.m. Friday at a concert and rally on the National Mall. Organizers expect about 50,000 people to attend the rally and about 100,000 people to march, according to a permit issued by the federal government. At 1 p.m., demonstrators will march through the National Mall and down Independence Avenue, ending between the Capitol and the Supreme Court buildings. The March for Life organization bills the annual protest as the world’s largest annual human rights demonstration. The march has been held each year on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling. Friday’s rally will be only the second year after the court overturned the ruling in 2022’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
Who’s speaking at the rally? Speakers include former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson, New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith, and Focus on the Family CEO Jim Daly. Harvest Christian Fellowship Pastor Greg Laurie will also speak with his wife, Cathe, and author Aisha Taylor. The theme of this year’s march is “With every woman, for every child,” focusing on caring for both mother and child during pregnancy and for years after birth.
