“Presumed human remains” found in wreckage of imploded Titan submersible

Wreckage from the submersible arrived at a pier in Canada last Wednesday. Among the evidence found in the submersible wreckage were what seemed to be human remains, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a statement. Titan, an expedition craft used to peruse the sunken Titanic, had imploded before reaching its destination, killing its five passengers. The Titanic is located more than two miles below the ocean’s surface. A remotely operated vehicle found debris from the submersible less than half a mile from the historic ship.

When did people first hear about the malfunctions on the Titan submersible? The Titan submersible began its voyage on June 17. Less than two hours after diving below the ocean’s surface, the submersible lost contact with the surface team. Since then, the U.S. Coast Guard has led an international endeavor to recover the submersible.
