Police treat London crash as terrorist act

London police on Tuesday morning arrested one suspect after a speeding Ford Fiesta hit a group of pedestrians and cyclists before crashing into barriers outside the House of Parliament. Police said they arrested the driver, a man in his late 20s. “At this stage, we are treating this as a terrorist incident and the Counter Terrorism Command is now leading the investigation,” according to a statement from police. Peter Rhodes, operations director with the London Ambulance Service, said responders treated two people without life threatening injuries. In 2017, a terrorist killed four people in the same area when he rammed his car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge. Authorities set up security barriers outside the Parliament following the attack. London Assistant Police Commissioner Neil Basu said officials have not identified any further threat to London.
