Texas high school shooting suspect arrested

Authorities in Arlington, Texas, were called at 9:15 a.m. to respond to a shooting on the second floor of Timberview High School. Three other police departments responded, along with FBI units from the Dallas field office. Three students and one adult were wounded. One had minor injuries, and the other three were taken to a hospital for treatment. Arlington police said the suspect, 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins, turned himself in.

How did this happen? Chief Kevin Kolbye said the shooting stemmed from a fight in which one student pulled a gun; it was not an attack on the entire school. Students and staff were locked in classrooms while authorities secured the building. The police were busing students to a parent reunification point after securing the school.
