Police looking for vandals who torched GOP office
Police in Hillsborough, N.C., still have no leads in a case of vandalism that heavily damaged the Orange County Republican Party office. Late Saturday, someone threw a bottle filled with flammable liquid through the office window, igniting furniture and campaign materials before finally burning itself out. No one was inside at the time of the incident. The vandals also spray-painted “Nazi Republicans leave town or else” on a nearby wall. The attack has prompted other GOP offices in the battleground state to rethink their security measures, especially for staffers who work late at night. Politicians from both parties, at the national and state level, condemned the attack. Local Democrats helped raise money to reopen the damaged office, a show of solidarity one expert called an indication of how much Americans value democracy.
