Police dismantling terror network behind Manchester attack

Manchester police raided a block of apartments this morning looking for evidence and suspects in the investigation of a terror attack on an Ariana Grande concert Monday. So far, four people have been arrested as part of a terror network that planned the bombing, police said. Authorities identified the bomber as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, a Libyan national who died in the attack. Abedi’s father, Ramadan Abedi, told a reporter by phone that his son Salman was innocent and his other son Ismail was arrested Tuesday evening in England. But a Libyan security official said Ramadan Abedi belonged to an extreme sect of Salafi Islam from which al-Qaeda and Islamic State (ISIS) originated. ISIS has taken credit for the attack in Manchester, which killed 22 people and injured 119 others. About 65 victims remain hospitalized, many with serious wounds that will require long-term care, according to the local health agency.
