Plane carrying Brazilian soccer team crashes in Colombia
A chartered plane carrying members of a Brazilian soccer team crashed in Colombia on Monday night, killing more than 70 people. The team, Chapecoense, was on its way to play in the final of the Copa Sudamericana. The match would have been the team’s biggest to date; it reached the highest division of Brazilian soccer just two years ago and had never made it to the final of such a significant tournament, according to The Telegraph. The Brazilian soccer agency reported six people survived the crash—three players, two crewmembers, and one journalist.
